Friends

Friends are like balloons; once you let them go, you might not get them back. Sometimes we get so busy with our own lives and problems that we may not even notice that we've let them fly away. Sometimes we are so caught up in who's right and who's wrong that we forget what's right and wrong. Sometimes we just don't realize what real friendship means until it is too late.

Stress Management

~*~*~*~
A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked, "How heavy is this glass of water?"

Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g. The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it."

"If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance. In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."

He continued, "And that's the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to continue. As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden."

"So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down. Don't carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens you're carrying now, set them down for a moment if you can."

"Relax; pick them up later after you've rested. Life is short. Enjoy it!

And then he shared some ways of dealing with the burdens of life:
* Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.
* Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.
* Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their maker.
* If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
* If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
* Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.
* The second mouse gets the cheese.
* When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
* Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.
* You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.
* Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
* We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.
* A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Purpose, Process, Payoff

~*~*~*~
When meeting with client, do you use Purpose, Process, Payoff to start your meetings?

Remember to start your meetings with telling your customers:
Purpose - why are we meeting?
Process - how will we go through the material?
Payoff - how we will benefit from spending this time together?
Then be sure to follow up with a Permission Question, asking your customer if this is an acceptable way to have the meeting.
This will ensure every person at the meeting has a clear understanding of your objective and you will have a better chance of achieving your goal.

TRY!

~*~*~*~
The person who makes no mistakes, usually doesn't make anything at all.

Success often comes from trying, not succeeding, learning from past mistakes, and trying again.

The key is to TRY!

Ask Your Customers

~*~*~*~
Are we fulfilling all of our customer's travel needs?

If we are not fulfilling all of our customer's needs, our competitors are anxious to do so.

Periodically ask your customers some or all of the following questions:
1. Is we meeting your travel needs?
2. Is there anything else we can do to make your travel easier or better?
3. What would make your travel a more satisfying experience?

The answers you get to these questions will be interesting, insightful, and valuable.

When was the last time you asked your customers these questions?

Knowledge

~*~*~*~
Knowledge of something is never a substitute for actually putting something into practice.

Take what you have learned in meetings, conference calls, seminars, training sessions, and on our websites, and put that knowledge to practical and beneficial use to make your sale.

Yes, knowledge is power.

But putting knowledge to work is what generates results.

Loyalty

~*~*~*~
Loyalty is not defined by being faithful when someone makes the same decision as you would, or does something that you like.

True loyalty is defined by staying faithful and true when someone makes a mistake and/or when someone makes a different decision than you would make.

People make mistakes and people will sometimes make decisions we don't agree with.

Sales is a team effort. Loyalty to the team and to the customer will benefit everyone.

True Virtue

Fine words and an insinuating appearance are seldom associated with true virtue. Confucius
What we can learn from this saying in today's business world is this: Just looking good and saying the right things is not enough. We must keep our promises, deliver on our commitments, and do more than the competition. Go for it!

Purposes of a Goal

~*~*~*~
The purpose of a Goal is to focus our attention on something. Without Goals, we would have nothing to achieve, no where to go, and nothing to do. So, achieving our Goals is the most important thing we can do, it is the very measure of our success.

Value

~*~*~*~
A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200 people, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?" Many people raised their hands. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you, but first, let me do this. . ."

He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air. Well, he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?" Still everyone raised their hands. My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value.

Eye Contact

~*~*~*~
"Eye Contact" is an important part in establishing relationships and making sales. We are all fortunate to work with people, cultures, and traditions from around the world. While these tips may not all perfectly fit your particular market, they serve as good reminders as to what we might or should do with our eyes during sales meetings:

- Looking at people and meeting their eyes are the first steps toward establishing relationships and making good impressions.
- It is recommended to make short frequent glances at others in social situations.
- Making eye contact for too long can be seen as threatening.
- Failing to look at others may cause suspicion as they may wonder what you might be hiding.
- Honesty and the ability to look someone in the eye are very closely related.
- Refusing to make eye contact may also send a message of arrogance, communicating to the other person that they are insignificant.
